Piecing Together

Puzzles fascinate me.

Spending time putting them together started several years ago, a hobby that I never saw myself really being drawn to but found it was really fun.
Figuring out how pieces fit together.
At first, I was terrible. And slowly worked out strategies and a pathway to my process.

With quarantine and many unused puzzles from my in-laws, I started to work on puzzles again after a hiatus of a few years. I had many puzzles that I had not touched so it was special to open and put them together. There were even a couple of times when I woke up in the middle of the night and couldn’t sleep and just worked on a puzzle for hours. It was soothing.

I spent a lot of time on three puzzles, my favorite of which was the hardest. One of my favorite Frida Kahlo self-portraits.

I have just started another puzzle, after a few months focused on other interests.
I missed the challenge but also love the way puzzles make me think differently.
Imagination is required, especially with those pieces that I am so sure are for one section of the puzzle but really go somewhere else. Always happens.

Mental exercises are required to ready myself for the fall.

  • I love puzzling as well. It is so soothing and I love the metaphor of puzzles. I find myself often thinking of different aspects of my life in terms of puzzles. Love the motifs on your puzzles!!
