Days Like This

this morning started with a walk
while I walked around my neighborhood
listened to Vanessa and Morgan talked about Audre Lorde
Drank chai tea/ate a sugary liege waffle
And I read essays about believing women
and figured out an idea down for a screenplay
and wrote an idea down for a story
and wrote down some lines for that story idea
and talked to myself about the future
And danced and sang with
Seinabo Sey, Jhené Aiko, Zsela, FKA Twigs, Lianne de Havas, Kate Bush,
MUNA, Solange, Sharon Van Etten, Florence + and the Machine, Snoh Aalegra, Ms. Lauryn Hill,
Kolinga, Julie Byrne, Regina Spektor, Monica, Leona Lewis, Tanerélle…
all before 11 am
Which feels like everything on a summer day
Coming off a complicated school year and lots of thoughts swirling around in my mind

Sometimes, there are so many things I want to accomplish that it’s hard to decide where to begin.
So, I love a day like today when it all comes together.
